In the wake of waves made by the colossal capabilities of the Hydrasynth, ASM emerges from the obsidian-hued oceanic depths, summoning a synth serpent of Biblical proportions. This is the ASM Leviasynth: a 16-voice algorithmic synthesizer that boasts a hybrid digital-analog architecture, 300-plus waveforms, eight per-voice oscillators, and seven unique oscillator modes. ASM builds on this aural architrave with a deluge of dynamic sound-design possibilities, from cutting-edge modulation tools and the new-to-Leviasynth Entropy function to versatile micro-tuning options and a galvanizing suite of effects. Sweetwater’s soundscape specialists are aghast at the latent potential of the Leviasynth’s sonic aperture, equipped to traverse myriad timbral terrains with titanic tone-sculpting tenacity — the namesake Algorithms are ASM’s distinct architecture for rearranging its seven oscillator configurations that span phase modulation, FM, HTE sync, phase distortion, and more. With a 32-slot modulation matrix, morphable Algorithms, CV/Gate connections, MPE compatibility, and the keyboard's 4-octave ribbon controller, the Polytouch-equipped ASM Leviasynth soars across the seas of titanic tone-morphing synthesis.
Two ways to play, one limitless instrument
This titan of timbral sculpting was devised to supercharge your sound without compromising your practical, spatial needs. As such, ASM built the Leviasynth in two iterations: a 61-note keyboard and a diabolical desktop module. Aside from the keybed, the two synthesizers are identical — the groundbreaking expressivity of the Polytouch is utilized in both the keyboard’s 61 keys and the module’s 16 performance pads. This polyphonic aftertouch technology gives you unrivaled control over nuanced flourishes, from incisive stabs to effervescent pads, striking attacks, and plush releases. No matter how you prefer to play or perform, the ASM Leviasynth has you covered.
Algorithms and oscillators: innovative polyfractal sonics
Within the Leviasynth, ASM has endowed the instrument with seven forms of synthesis: Phase Modulation, Frequency Modulation, Pulse Width Modulation, HTE Sync, and three searing degrees of Phase Distortion. HTE Sync, in particular, has caught the eyes — and ears — of Sweetwater’s synthesists, thanks to ASM’s innovative engineering that allows you to engage the ferocity of oscillator-sync sonics without limit to the complexity or symmetry considerations of the waveforms you utilize. Each of the synthesizer’s 16 voices features eight oscillators, and every oscillator can be configured in groups — these are the Leviasynth’s Algorithms. Across more than 300 per-oscillator waveforms, 144 Algorithm presets, and seven distinct oscillator modes, your combinatorial timbral-sculpting potential explodes with diversity, and the addition of one customizable patch for every algorithm expands the Leviasynth’s palette with immensely personalized performances. Moreover, the onboard Morph capability lets you seamlessly and continuously transmogrify your timbral soundfield, resulting in truly limitless sound-shaping.
Ferocious filtering, digital dynamism, and analog excellence
What makes the ASM Leviasynth a “hybrid” synthesizer comes down to its distinguished filtering capabilities. On one side, you have a time-tested analog array: a 4-pole, lowpass 24dB/octave filter. On the other side, 18 digital filters span diverse lowpass, highpass, notch, bandpass, and vowel-filter options. Filter-specific Cutoff and Resonance parameters are supplemented by Pre-drive and dual-function Drive/Morph controls for the Analog and Digital Filter sections, respectively, downstream from a dedicated assortment of oscillator envelope controls.
Evocative expression and multidimensional modulation
The performance-focused Polytouch technology found in ASM’s revered Hydrasynth is masterfully implemented with the Leviasynth. This polyphonic aftertouch is meticulously refined to capture the depth and nuances of every flourish. From subtly letting off lush soundscape-level chords to the ultra-vibrant velocity impacts of laser-focused synth solos, Polytouch precision powers every performance. What’s more, ASM built the Leviasynth to be fully compatible with MIDI Polyphonic Expression (MPE), meaning any MPE-capable controller is ready to drive myriad multi-parameter modulation straight from your fingertips.
Speaking of modulation, ASM pulled no punches in endowing the Leviasynth with a constellation of waveform-warping sonic sorcery. The instrument’s 16 voices individually accommodate up to five per-voice LFOs. A suite of 10-plus LFO options spans sine, triangle, multi-directional saw, square, noise, random, step, and percentage-variable pulse waveshapes, with further tempo-sync and semitone-lock options to augment your oscillation options. Envelopes abound throughout the Leviasynth’s prismatic polyphony, allowing you to not only assign one envelope for each oscillator but also go deeper with five tempo-syncable envelopes for every voice, with four trigger sources to utilize. With the Leviasynth keyboard (or an external controller with the Leviasynth desktop module), immense customization through the Pitch Bend, Mod Wheel, and 4-octave Ribbon Controller lets you personalize your playing preferences, and when you add in the 32-slot modulation matrix, stratospheric peaks of synth sonics are yours to summit.
Full 16-voice control: splits, multi-patches, and more
Adding together the Leviasynth’s 16 voices, eight per-voice oscillators, seven oscillator modes, Algorithms, digital and analog filters, expressive envelopes, evocative effects, and multimode modulation, ASM left no sonic stone unturned. In a bid to make the Leviasynth the ultimate sound designer’s dream, this studio-to-stage synth serpent supports two vivid and versatile voicing modes: Single and Multi. In Single mode, all 16 voices are used with your patch, while Multi mode distributes two 8-voice parts across distinct patches. The vibrant, full-colored display serves as your central command, customizing and assigning per-layer levels, keyboard and velocity zones, Macros, effects routing, and multi-layer arpeggiation. With such diverse sonic potential, ASM’s world-class patch crafters developed 512 Single-mode and 256 Multi-mode factory presets, with a total of 1,024 and 640 patch locations available for each respective mode.
Performance-focused rhythmic tools and explosive effectuation
On the performance front, the Leviasynth has no shortage of multifaceted spatial-sculpting and time-tampering tools. The 9-mode arpeggiator offers an array of multidirectional, randomized, chord, and phrase capabilities, while nine arpeggiator-specific variables inject your aural output with a mélange of musical malleability across adjustable Octave, Gate, Swing, Ratchet, Chance, and additional behaviors, including the new-to-Leviasynth Entropy parameter. For detailed composition, ASM included a 3-track sequencer that records a polyphonic note track, an automation data track, and a dedicated Macro track for each patch — the last of which supports up to eight lanes of per-Macro automation. Moreover, the sequencer’s 128-step mode complements versatile recording and sound-engine routing opportunities, comprising incoming MIDI, Series, and Parallel playback, sending simultaneous CV and MIDI track information to external devices, and a variety of per-step, per-track step-sequencing behaviors.
When it comes to texturization and temporal shaping, the Leviasynth’s polychromic effects engine is a haymaker of high-octane aural engineering, consisting of nine insert effects, five delays, and four reverbs. Effects types such as Chorus, Flanger, Phaser, Rotary, Lo-Fi, Tremolo, EQ, Compressor, and Distortion are spread across four effects modules. Diverse per-effect parameters pull double duty as routing destinations within the mod matrix, giving you unrivaled tactile control from the mod wheel, ribbon controller, Polytouch inputs, and MPE. For greater timbral versatility, the Leviasynth’s ribbon controller features a Theremin mode, in addition to its use for editing tracks in the sequencer. Plus, when you really need to engage the utmost character of ‘80s-style digital dynamism, the onboard Vintage mode is your answer.
